are we that ignorant?

Mayor of Kota Kinabalu Datuk Abidin Madingkir made a very good point today.

He said the authorities have always emphasised on the importance of creating awareness among the people about cleanliness. Why we should maintain cleanliness, not just at home, but also at public places.

The problem is, he said, the authorities have been harping on the same issue for the past 30 years. And yet they still want to "create awareness" among the people.

I believe people are very much aware of the situation, they know the dustbins are not decorations, they know the functions of the recycled bins, they know it is wrong to litter, motorists know they should not throw rubbish from their vehicles, and yet they are just too ignorant. It has become a habit. They just refuse to take a few steps walk to the dustbin to dispose their rubbish. And worst of all, they know that someone is paid to clean up the mess they made.

Even a small cigarette butt can cause much damage if not properly disposed.

We hate being called stupid and ignorant and yet we continue to act like one.

Honestly, it will not kill to dispose our own garbage. Lets do our bit to help clean the environment. Together, we can make this world a better place to live in.

thanks for your time ...

my mother once told me i was named by my uncle. when i was in my primary years, i remember begging my name be changed
to 'Cindy' (after Cindy Lauper - i don't know, somehow "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was just too good to be ignored...geez),
anyways, thank God she didn't, because today, i so love my name.
thanks mummy and daddy for 'creating' me :-).
